Planes, Trains, Autos And Sites Begin London Adventure

5/20/2015 - London, England - The trek to London began late the prior day driving from Rochester to Lockport then to Toronto Pearson International Airport to catch a non-stop Air Canada flight from Toronto to London's Heathrow Airport. The long flight was smooth and the empty seat next to us provided a comfortable trip. We landed in London late morning getting through customs, acquiring some pounds and getting a week long pass for the Tube. We navigated the Tube to get to our hotel in the heart of London, the Park Plaza Westminster London Bridge. We were tired from the long day of travel and had to wait for our room. The suite room was excellent, having a living room, bedroom and bathroom. Very spacious by London standards and very modern with a couple flat screens, Jacuzzi tub, standup shower, and excellent facilities like an indoor pool, sauna and steam room. The hotel was perfectly located with a fantastic view of Big Ben and Parliament right from the lobby and easy Tube access. After a brief rest we started exploring London and the sites. We started with up close views of Big Ben, Parliament and London's Eye. We walked down along the River Thames on Queen's Walk all the way down to London Tower Bridge. We took in the awesome London skyline that included such sites as St Pauls Cathedral, the Tower of London, the Millenium Bridge, and the City Hall building. We hopped on the Tube and headed down to Piccadilly Circus to enjoy a nice dinner at TGIFridays. Finally back to the hotel to take in some excellent night views of Big Ben. A nice start to the London adventure which was only beginning, much, much more to come. 2 3 4 5 Slideshow
