Mark Farner Brings His American Band To Hilton FD Carnival

7/11/2018 - Hilton, New York - Today, I literally walked down the street to the Hilton Fire Department's Carnival in Hilton, New York to watch the classic rock of former Grand Funk & Railroad lead man Mark Farner and His American Band perform. I arrived early and grabbed an excellent roast beef sandwich and purchased some pull tab tickets winning a hundred bucks! An excellent start to my evening. I headed into the Zoo and had a few drinks and played some blackjack winning a few bucks listening to the opening local band Download, who were just okay. Mark Farner and his band, which included his brother playing bass, hit the stage at 9 PM. The crowd was not as large as I would have expected but the Zoo was about three quarters full. I had a VIP ticket which allowed fenced off access to the stage front. They did a good set of Grand Funk classics that included Mean Mistreater, Bad Time and Rock N' Roll Soul to name a few. The set also included a nice cover of CSN's Ohio. He came out for one encore of I'm Your Captain / Closer To Home. The show was good but lacked a couple of my favorite Grand Funk tunes but still great to see one of my favorites from the seventies playing in my backyard literally. Slideshow
