 7/8/2011 - Steubenville, Ohio - Loren Michael DeFilippo, Sr., 77, of Weirton, passed away on Friday July 8, 2011, at Trinity West Medical Center, Steubenville, OH. Born on Monday November 27, 1933 in Lockport, NY. Loren was the eighth child of nine of the late Nicolo and Lena Ruberto DeFilippo. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Dominick, Angelo, Nicholas and John DeFilippo; and his sister, Virginia Rising. Loren attended West Liberty State College, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education, and received a Masters of Arts in Music Education from West Virginia University. Loren was a music teacher and band director for 30 years and retired from the Hancock County School System. He served his country in the US Army, and was stationed in Germany with the 33rd Army Band. Locally, he played clarinet with the Wheeling Symphony Orchestra and many local community bands.. Loren is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Jerry Brewer DeFilippo; three sons, Loren, Jr. (Polly) of Cincinnati, OH, Joseph of Grand Cayman Islands, BWI and Michael (Maria) of Pittsburgh, PA; two daughters, Maria DeFilippo (Scott Ribe) of Golden CO and Kathy Hart (Jack) of Cameron, WV; three sisters, Mary DeFilippo, Ellen Anterline, and Frances Florio, all of Lockport, NY; twelve grandchildren, Christopher, Brittany, Gianni, Tony, Erin, Nicholas, and Loren Joseph DeFilippo, Ashley, Benjamin, and Leah Hart, Brooks and Ryan Pepper; and one great-grandson, Hayden DeFilippo..
