Frampton, Doobie Brothers and Matthew Curry Rock CMAC

6/25/2014 - Canandaigua, New York - The concert summer continued with another free one from Deb, tonight's destination was CMAC in Canandaigua, New York to see a double barrel of classic rock from the Doobie Brothers and Peter Frampton. We started out stopping for a steak and lobster dinner at Outback steakhouse, thanks Nicole! We hit CMAC early and found a small crowd which allowed us to move closer to the stage. The opening act was a very good left handed guitarist named Matthew Curry. Curry and his band came out promptly at seven and played a rocking blues rock set that had him jamming on his Fender, a perfect opener for this show. After a brief intermission the Doobie Brothers took the stage and played a great abbreviated set. The Doobies opened with Jesus Is Just Alright and ripped thru as many hits and some newer stuff that they could, including Depending On You, Takin To The Streets and finishing their set with Long Train Running. The band was excellent and they finished with a two song encore that included China Grove and Listen To The Music. Again another great performance by the band although not as good as last years full concert at Artpark. After another brief intermission Peter Frampton hit the stage and also did a similar abbreviated set. He too played as many classic hits as he could fit in an hour and twenty minute set. A nice jam on my favorite Lines On My Face, and others like Show Me The Way and the cover of Soundgarden's Black Hole Sun. He finished with a typical extended jam on Do You Feel Like We Do. He came out for a single encore of a Beatles cover of While My Guitar Gently Weeps. A great concert from start to finish and again it was FREE ! Slideshow
