Weekend In The Big Apple For Sites, Yankees And Fun

8/21/2015 - New York City, New York - Today we hopped in the car and headed East to the Big Apple, New York City for another little getaway. A nice day for a drive we arrived in the early afternoon and checked into a decent room at the Holiday Inn Express on 39th St right next to Times Square. We headed down to Times Square and took in the sights stopping at Planet Hollywood for a nice dinner. After dinner we headed back to the hotel snagged some tickets on Stubhub, jumped on the subway, and headed to the Bronx to watch the Yankees take on the Cleveland Indians. It was a perfect night and are tickets were excellent right on the first base line. The Yankees lost the game 7-3. The next day we had a decent breakfast at the hotel and headed out to hit some of the tourist attractions. First stop on the tour was Battery Park to catch the ferry to Liberty Island for some up close views of the Statue Of Liberty and some nice panoramic views of the Manhattan skyline very nice... We also made a stop at Ellis Island. Next stop on the tour was Tom's Restaurant near Central Park which was made famous for being the restaurant on Seinfeld. We had lunch here and did not see George or Jerry and decided not to get the big salad. We then headed into Central Park to Strawberry Fields and relaxed a bit taking in some nice and interesting views in Central Park. We then headed to our favorite music shop in NYC, Sam Ash Music playing some fantastic custom guitars, including Dom's favorite David Gilmour custom. After this we had a late dinner at Deb's friends restaurant Tavola which was literally right around the corner from our hotel. The last tourist stop on the tour we walked to the Empire State Building and went up for some nice evening views of the Manhattan skyline. We finished the evening heading back to Times Square for some late time lapse photos and some site seeing of the area. A great get away love NYC we will be back soon.Slideshow
