Rome Trip Continues With Pope Francis Blessing At Vatican

9/3/2017 - Vatican City - The Rome adventure continued today starting our day with the delicious breakfast at the Hotel Artemide. Deb did a little shopping next store to the hotel and then we grabbed a taxi and headed to Vatican City to see the Pope give the Angelus Blessing on this overcast Sunday morning. We arrived at Piazza San Pietro better known as St Peter's Square early to small crowds. We headed into St Peter's Basilica and toured around it's amazing beauty and were able to look in on Sunday mass taking place just simply an amazing place. We headed outside to get a good spot to see Pope Francis give the blessing from his apartment window. We had an excellent spot but the clouds came in and the rain started as large crowds started to form. Thousands of people filled the square and they were chanting and singing in anticipation of the Pope's blessing. The Pope was scheduled for Noon and amazingly the rain stopped at 11:55 and sky cleared as the Pope came out and gave the Angelus Blessing. An excellent experience getting blessed by the Pope. After the Pope blessing, we walked the streets of Rome and stopped at the elegant square at Piazza Navona. Here we took in the beautiful street artists, the Fountain of Neptune and a delicious Italian meal in the square just taking in the gorgeous day and watching the people in the square. We finished the day with a delicious geloto outside the Hotel Artemide watching the Rome police cruising by in their Lamborghini car, that's the car I would want to drive. A great day in Rome.Slideshow
