Italy Travel Log - Como, Italy

9/9/2019 - Como, Italy - The Italy adventure continued today with a delicious breakfast with gorgeous views of Lake Como from the breakfast dining area of our place The Hotel Du Lac in Bellagio. We decided to pickup a ferry from in front of the Hotel and head South down Lake Como to the city of Como. The trip was about an hour and we took in the many beautiful villages and mountains all along the edges of Lake Como. The journey also included swinging by George Clooney's villa in Laglio. It was a gorgeous day and we spent it wandering the city of Como taking in the nice views at Piazza San Fedele. Piazza San Fedele, originally a wheat market, is one of the main squares of Como and hosts a beautiful Romanesque church which dates back to 1120: the Basilica of San Fedele. We headed farther into the city to Broletto (the old town hall) and took in views of the Como Cathedral. Como has many shops and cafes and we stopped for a tasty gelato on this warm day. We spent part of the day down by the lakefront taking in some sights including the Life Electric monument, Volta museum and the War Memorial (Monumento ai Caduti). I also captured some nice drone shots from the lakefront area where we ran out time and had to catch the ferry back to Bellagio. We arrived back at sunset and headed to the roof of The Hotel Du lac to take in a fantastic Bellagio sunset finishing the day with nice dinner at a small place just next to Hotel Du Lac.Slideshow
