 8/25/2021 - Corfu, New York - We knew way ahead of time there was one show this summer we would definitely be attending and today's Dead & Company show at Darien Lake Performing Arts Center in Corfu, New York was thee one! We left early heading West down NY Route 33 to Route 77 right into Darien Lake. For this show, all concert goers were required to show proof of Covid vaccination or a negative Covid test to gain entry. We had no problem getting in even with this restriction. Our seats were excellent third row left center stage even though we overpaid due to the Covid restrictions tons of excellent tickets were sold for a fraction of the original cost to fill the seats. The band came out promptly and started what was an epic set of classic Dead and great covers. They opened the first set with Viola Lee Blues and played a nice jam on Friend Of The Devil. The sound was excellent and the light show was very good. John Mayer jammed with headphones on for the whole show due to some tinitus issues and Bob Weir sounded great. They ended the first set with New Speedway Boogie. After a brief intermission they opened the second set with Truckin' and then went on to honor Charlie Watts from the Rolling Stones who had just passed the days prior to the show with a nice cover of The Last Time. My Youtube video for this song was featured on Rolling Stones website, the second time one of my videos were featured there. They did the usual Drums and played some Uncle John's Band and closed the set with Wharf Rat. They came out and did one encore again I think paying homage to Charlie Watts with a Bob Dylan cover of Knockin' On Heaven's Door. An excellent show that lived up to our expectations even though a little over priced!Slideshow |
