 9/14/2024 - Cleveland, Ohio - Today, I took Route 90 West to the bottom of Lake Erie into the city of Cleveland, Ohio to see Jeff Lynne's ELO perform at the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse during their Over And Out Tour. I left early on this very nice hot day and hit the road making it to Cleveland early afternoon. I had some time and stopped at the Christmas Story House and then went for an early checkin to my hotel right in downtown Cleveland, the Comfort Inn Downtown. It was the cheapest option within walking distance to everything and the room was adequate. I explored downtown Cleveland on foot walking past Playhouse Square theatre district down to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, Huntington Bank Field home of the Browns and along the nicely renovated pier area. I stopped at the Jack Casino Cleveland located right in the heart of the city and did a little gaming, a nice pretty big casino. I then headed down to Progressive Field and the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse heading into the soldout show. I had a decent ticket left stage just past center of the arena about ten rows up, a good spot to see the massive visuals of the ELO show. The show started promptly at 8PM with the Los Angeles rock band Rooney. They did an okay short set. After a brief intermission for setup Lynne and company came out and played an excellent show. They opened with One More Time and went into a hit filled set of classic ELO stuff. It included Evil Woman, Do Ya, Rockaria!, Shine A Little Love and closed the set with Don't Bring Me Down. The band sounded great and the sellout Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse crowd loved the good music along with the excellent light show that was provided. Lynne still sounded good vocally and was helped by many backup singers. They came out for a single encore of Mr. Blue Sky. An excellent show and worth the trip to see the genius Lynne perform for the last time. Slideshow |
