 6/25/2025 - Buffalo, New York - In a smart last minute decision, I decided to pickup a ticket and drive West down the NYS Thruway down Route 33 into downtown Buffalo and see one of my new favorite artists, Samantha Fish, perform at the soldout Asbury Hall. I was lucky to snag a general admission ticket just prior to the show selling out and hopped in my car and headed to downtown Buffalo early to ensure a decent spot. I managed to get a seat about ten rows back left stage just behind the reserved seating an excellent spot for this soldout show. The show opened on time with a band from Texas called the Texas Headhunters. The band featured three guitarists, Ian Moore, Jesse Dayton and Johnny Moeller longtime guitarist for The Fabulous Thunderbirds. They were pretty loose and jammed a short blues rock set that was well received by the sellout Asbury Hall crowd, a good opener for Samantha Fish. Samantha Fish and her band hit the stage after a brief intermission and played an excellent set. She opened with Kick Out The Jams and went right into her new song Paper Doll. This was Samantha's return to Asbury Hall having performed here just a little over a year ago another excellent show. Samantha and her band consisting of Ron Johnson on bass guitar, Jamie Douglass on drums, and Mickey Finn on keys were pretty tight on this evening. Samantha did a great cover of Screamin' Jay Hawkins' I Put A Spell On You and jammed the cigar box guitar on Bulletproof. She did awesome jam filled versions of Dream Girl and the set closing Black Wind Howlin'. The sellout crowd absolutely loved the show, cheering extremely loud for the encore. Samantha and band came out for one encore being joined by the Texas Headhunters for a guitar jam filled Goin' Down South to closeout a great set. I was front row for the encore and shook her hand and praised her for a great show as she exited. Samantha's performance on this night was excellent with great guitar work and passionate vocals. I hope she comes back next year, if so I will be there, again great show ! Slideshow |
