Jonny Lang Rocks Rain Soaked Lockport Canal Concert Series

8/2/2013 - Lockport, New York - The day is Friday that means another Labatt Canal Concert series concert in Lockport, today we took the drive to see the guitar stylings of Jonny Lang. We knew going into this one that weather could be a major factor but forecasters said it would not rain until ten pm. We arrived early to get a good parking spot right next to the stage. The opening band was one of our new favorite local bands Dive House Union. They came out and did a great set. Their original tunes have it all good guitar, vocals, sax and piano. In my opinion they are the best band I have seen on the local scene currently. Following them was a NYC band The London Souls who also came out and played an excellent set. The trio looked like a raggae band but they also jammed with the lead singer and guitarist, Tash Neal, playing awesome on his Gibson 335. In the middle of their set though the clouds quickly moved in and the rain came down heavily. We quickly moved to the car and waited out the rain missing the end of their good set. The rain subsided and we went back out to a much smaller crowd as Jonny Lang and his band hit the stage. He opened with and energetic performance of Don't Stop (For Anything). He thanked the smaller crowd for coming out and hanging in there to watch the show. He continued playing an excellent set with some great guitar work. Unfortunately as the forecasters said the sky opened up just after ten and it poured rain for the second time. Dom and I decided although it was a good show, we hopped in the car and headed out. Lang continued the show and many fans stayed through the rain using umbrellas and whatever else they could find to try and stay dry. Slideshow
