Dom And Jazz Ensemble Play 14th Annual Evening Of Jazz

2/10/2017 - Hilton, New York - Today we attended the 14th Annual Evening of Jazz at Merton Williams Middle School in Hilton, New York. This years Evening of Jazz featured artist was the Clayton-Hamilton Jazz Orchestra. The Merton Williams Jazz Ensemble opened the evening with several numbers under the direction of Kevin Weber. They were joined by Clayton-Hamilton Jazz orchestra for their final number. This was followed by a good set featuring the guest artists and the Hilton All Pro Band. The final set of the evening featured Dom and his Hilton High School Jazz Ensemble band hitting the stage being directed by Jared Streiff. They opened with a great version of Billy Strayhorn's Take The "A" Train. That was followed by a great cover of Ray Noble's Cherokee featuring the entire Jazz band's trumpet section along with guest artist Clay Jenkins. Dom did a nice job on the solo of Max-Q the number commissioned by the school from local composer Russell Scarborough. The evening completed with the band playing Hidden Dimple with nice solos by Dom on Tenor Sax and Mike Mancuso on Trumpet and closed the evening with Day By Day featuring Dom soloing on Tenor Sax. It was a great show and Dom did a fantastic job playing at his final Evening of Jazz performance of his high school career. Slideshow
