 7/13/2018 - Batavia, New York - Today on this Friday The 13th, I found myself heading West to Batavia Downs Raceway in Batavia, New York for the second week in a row to watch one of my favorite guitarists perform, the former Triumph leadman Rik Emmett during the Rockin' The Downs Concert series. I arrived early to a very small crowd and met my friend Larry who provided me a free all access pass and front row seat to the show! The first two bands were just okay. The third band was the Canadian musician Carl Dixon who took us thru his career with bands like April Wine, Coney Hatch and the Guess Who. He did a good set that was well received by the late arriving crowd. Soon after Rik Emmett and his band hit the stage and did their typical set. They opened with Lay It On The Line and played many classic Triunph tunes like Allied Forces and Magic Power. They closed the show with one encore of Fight The Good Fight. A good show that still entertains and getting front row tickets makes it even better.Slideshow |
