Flaming Lips Entertain At Coors Light Wednesday At Artpark

7/17/2013 - Lewiston, New York - Today we attended are first Coors Light Wednesday At Artpark concert the artist tonight not a classic rock band but the psychedelic sounds of the Flaming Lips. We arrived to find a sparse crowd initially compared to the massive crowds for the Tuesday night shows like we saw the night before for Bad Company. The heat was still a factor for this show and we stayed in the shade until the opener came out Tobacco. The act was aweful spinning tunes not a real musician and showing some kind of weird porn. The Artpark people stopped him thankfully from showing the vulgar stuff and booted him off the stage, the crowd cheered. The Flaming Lips stage looked exotic with lighted umbilical cords and large silver globes. The lead singer Wayne Coyne came out and checked out the setup and showed the new gadget they just built to send confetti in the crowd via a leaf blower. Not soon after the band came on stage in front of the cult like following of about four thousand according to Artpark personnel. There set was actually pretty good. They played a couple songs I was familar with like Race For The Prize, Look The Sun Is Rising and closed the set with A Spoonful Weighs A Ton. The visuals were excellent they used many lights, video, lasers and confetti machines shooting into the crowd to enhance the experience. They came out for the encore of their biggest hit Do You Realize ?? my personal favorite. They put on a good show and like Bad Company the night before they too were impressed by the sunset and told the crowd so. This night was a little something different from the classic rock shows we have been attending and it turned out to be an interesting and entertaining evening.Slideshow
