Annual Exploration Of The Island Of Maui Begins - Part II

3/27/2016 - Maui, Hawaii - After the chill out day, today we began the true exploration of our favorite island, Maui. The day starts with the early morning walk on Kaanapali beach with the gorgeous peaceful views of the islands of Molokai and Lanai as the sun rises. We had a nice breakfast at the condo and more early chilling by the ocean front pool at Kaanapali Shores. We stopped at Snorkel Bobs and picked up snorkel gear and boogie boards. First stop on the tour was the beautiful beach and snorkel spot of Kapalua Bay. Dom worked hard to find sea turtles and captured some great under water video. After we headed back to the condo for more chilling by the pool, then a nice sunset, then finally driving into Lahaina for dinner at Bubba Gumps. We finished this long day playing some late night tennis at the condo, then relaxing in the hot tub. The next day we decided to make the drive down the Road to Hana. This trip started early and took then entire day. The main stops included the Halfway To Hana for shaved ice and Ke'anae Peninsula to view the church built in 1856, the old stone church is called “Ihi’ihio Iehowa o na Kaua” and the area offers great views of the north shore waves hitting the lava rock. We continued on and hit the famous black sand beach and lava tunnels at Waianapanapa State Park. We also captured some nice drone aerials of the beach. We continued on past Hana and went to the Pools of ‘Ohe’o (aka Seven Sacred Pools) in Kipahulu. after swimming and exploring the pools, we hiked the Pipiwai trail. The trail took us through the beautiful bamboo forest and banyan trees ending the 2.5 mile hike at the gorgeous Waimoku Falls. A great hike that is a must do if at the Seven Pools. After this we headed back to try and beat the darkness but drove the Road To Hana almost totally in the dark. An awesome day of exploration. More Maui to come. 1 3 4 5 Slideshow
