Day Trip Train Ride To Explore Beautiful Florence

9/5/2017 - Florence, Italy - Today we were up early for a hotel pickup to take us to the Rome Termini Train station to ride north across Italy to tour the beautiful city of Florence. It was a perfect day and the train ride offered nice views of the Italian countryside. We arrived mid-morning in Florence and met our guide. The guide walked us thru the city taking in the many sites like Duomo di Firenze (Florence Cathedral), the shops and views of the Arno River on Ponte Vechhio bridge, the Palazzo Vecchio and finally stopping at the Uffizi Gallery for a guided tour. Many gorgeous artworks including some pieces from Raphael, Davinci and Michealangelo. We then stopped at some local artisans to see some custom made Italian gold jewelry and leather goods and also stopped at a local artisan, Luitaio, who made custom made violins including one for President Obama. We had a nice lunch with the group and then walked the city enjoying a gorgeous day. We stopped at what is probably the prettiest Hard Rock Café I have seen. Florence is a really a gorgeous city, we will have to come back again and spend some more quality time there. We were back on the train heading back to Rome walking from the train station back to Hotel Artemide grabbing some late night geloto to end an exhausting day. Slideshow
