Cheap Trick & Talas Help WCMF Celebrate 50 At Finger Lakes |

 8/2/2019 - Farmington, New York - At the last minute, a friend at work provided me with free tickets to see Cheap Trick at Finger Lakes Racetrack in Farmington, New York. I pulled into the venue just a few minutes before the show start. Members of WCMF came out to thank the large crowd for joining them at their 50th Anniversary Concert. The opener for tonight's show was one of my favorite old local bands, Talas. Led by bassist Billy Sheehan, they did a good set that included some classic rock like Sink Your Teeth Into That and an excellent cover of Max Webster's Battle Scar. Again a good set that took me back to my old days on the local music scene. After a brief intermission Cheap Trick then hit the stage and did a good set. They played many classics including The Flame, Dream Police and the classic Fats Domino cover of Ain't That A Shame. Robin Zander was still sounding pretty good on vocals and Rick Nielsen entertained with his many guitars including the infamous 5 neck custom guitar. They finished the show inviting Billy Sheehan to join them on stage for a nice jam on Surrender. This was a good entertaining show that was truly a last minute thing, thanks for the freebie.Slideshow | |
