Long Journey Ends At Beautiful Bellagio On Italy's Lake Como

9/7/2019 - Bellagio, Italy - The journey to beautiful Bellagio located on Lake Como in Northern Italy started the day before with a 3 hour drive across the border from Hilton to Toronto Pearson International Airport. We hit some traffic getting near the airport but left early enough to allow time to grab a quick dinner at Deb's favorite place, Swiss Chalet. We went thru check in and TSA easier than we ever have and made it on our nonstop flight from Toronto to Milan Malpensa Airport painlessly. A smooth long flight that allowed us to relax with drinks, food and catching up on recent movies. We arrived on time and we headed to train one, the Malpensa Express train, to take us from the Malpensa Airport to Milano Centrale (Milan Central Station) about an hour trip. At Milano Centrale, we caught our next train North along the edge of Lake Como to Varenna-Esino which was another hour trip. The final leg of our journey was the short 15 minute ferry ride from Varenna to Bellagio. On the ferry we would take in our first awesome views of Lake Como and the absolute beauty of the area. The ferry arrived at Bellagio's port that was literally right at the front door of our hotel, The Hotel Du Lac. We checked in at Hotel Du Lac to a nice room that included a balcony with a partial view of the water. We were tired from the journey but excited to scope out the area a little bit also grabbing some dinner at the hotel's outdoor restaurant. The next day we started with a delicious breakfast at the hotel that included a gorgeous view of Lake Como with a rainbow to start our trip. After breakfast we headed to church at the beautiful Chiesa San Giacomo Basilica di San Giacomo. A wonderful mass in Italian and a surprising reading in English. We then began to explore the wonderful town of Bellagio. The views of Lake Como, the Swiss Alps and the surrounding area were just breathtaking. We ended the day with a dinner at the Hotel Metropole with delicious drinks, good food and fantastic views of Lake Como. This is just the start of what will be a fantastic adventure.Slideshow
