8/26/2022 - Cinque Terre, Italy - Today, we began exploring the many lovely villages of Cinque Terre. The day started with another delicious breakfast provided by the nice people at Hotel Pasquale in Monterosso. We headed down to the dock right in front of the Hotel and purchased a couple all day passes on the ferry between all the villages. We started at the port of Monterosso in front of our hotel and took the short ferry ride to the next village over Vernazza. It was early and the village was pratically empty allowing us to enjoy it more than the prior visit when we had our misfortune occur. We shot the pretty Chiesa di Santa Margherita di Antiochia (Church of St. Margaret of Antioch) and walked the shops. We headed down to catch the ferry for a quick pit stop at Riomaggiore then on to the gorgeous Porto Venere. Here we explored Chiesa di San Pietro, Mater Naturae and Grotta di Lord Byron. We walked the many shops along this gorgeous village and enjoyed a nice gelato by the beach. Back on the ferry for a stop at Riomaggiore checking out the old church Oratorio di Santa Maria Assunta and some refreshments. We were back on the ferry with a cruise by Manarola and Vernazza back to the start at our home port of Monterosso. We walked around Monterosso and enjoyed a nice dinner at San Martino Gastronomia meeting a nice couple and their two kids from Wisconsin. A nice tiring day.Slideshow |
