Italy Travel Log - Portofino, Italy |

 8/27/2022 - Portofino, Italy - The Italy adventure continued with today's destination being the gorgeous town of Portofino. The day started as you know each day has with the excellent breakfast at Hotel Pasquale in Monterosso. We caught a train from Monterosso to Santa Margherita which took a little over an hour, then caught a bus to take us to Portofino. The quick fifteen minute bus brought us to the heart of Portofino in the Piazzetta. From here we explored the high end shops and got a gelato on this hot day. We decided to climb the path to Chiesa di San Giorgio, Castello Brown, and the spectacular panoramic views of Portofino. The views included the mega yacht ELA that was massive compared to everything. We continued up the path all the way to the lighthouse, Faro di Portofino, that had an oasis bar with much needed daquiris and amazing panoramic views of the Ligurian Sea. We took the bus back to Santa Margherita and then snuck back on an earlier train to Monterosso. We managed another late dinner at one of our new favorite spots, Il Piccolo Diavolo. After dinner we hung out in downtown Monterosso and were entertained by a large dance party that included lots of young and old locals enjoying wine, music and dancing, a great experience to be a part of. It was late and we headed back to Hotel Pasquale and were woken late night by spectacular lightning over the sea. A really fun day was had today in Italia.Slideshow | |
