Sting An Englishman In New York At St Joseph's Amphitheater |

 9/6/2022 - Syracuse, New York - Today, in a last minute decision, I decided to head East down the NYS Thruway to Syracuse, New York's St. Jospesph's Health Amphitheater at Lakeview to see the Englishman In New York, Sting perform on his My Songs Tour. Deb won the tickets and we were still fatigued from our Italy trip but I decided to go and check it out. It rained for the first half hour of the trip there but then cleared up and turned out to be a great night for a show. I secured a good spot on the lawn and the opener was Joe Sumner, who is the son of Sting and Northern Irish actress Frances Tomelty. He did a decent short set with the acoustic guitar. Sting and his band soon followed with a good set of old classics and some new material. He opened with the Police song Message In A Bottle and then slid into Englishman In New York. He played many classics including Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic, Walking on The Moon, So Lonely and a nice version of Shape of My Heart accompanied by singer Gene Noble. The band was pretty tight and he closed the set with Every Breath You Take and the near sellout crowd loved it. He came out for a two song encore opening with Roxanne and finishing the show with Fragile. Again, a great evening for a show and the music was good and it was free, thanks Deb.Slideshow | |
