Steve Winwood and Allman Brothers Rock At Darien PAC |

 8/23/2013 - Corfu, New York - Today we journeyed West to Darien Lake Performing Arts Center in Corfu, NY for the classic rock of Steve Winwood and the Allman Brothers Band. We started are journey with a nice surf'n'turf dinner at the Longhorn Steakhouse that was very tasty. We hit the road and got to the concert a little early and it was a nice night weather wise. We had decent tickets center stage about thirty rows back. Unfortunately, we found out that the sunset would blast us for part of the opener. The show started promptly at six thirty and Steve Winwood opened and did a fabulous set. He packed in all he could in his hour set, playing solo stuff, Spencer Davis group, Traffic and some Blind Faith. He played hits like Can't Find My Way Home, Dear Mr. Fantasy and Low Spark of High Heeled Boys to name a few. His voice, piano, guitar work and band all sounded excellent. He finished with Gimme Some Lovin' and the crowd cheered for more but the Allman Brothers were waiting in the wings. The Allman Brothers Band came out soon after and played a good set of their classics. They opened with Statesboro Blues and played many classics including Melissa, Revival and a long jam and drum solo on In Memory Of Elizabeth Reed. Derek Trucks and Warren Haynes jammed back and forth throughout the entire show. The band also did a good cover of Van Morrison's Into The Mystic. They finished the set with One Way Out and came out for a couple encores. The encores included a nice jam on Blue Sky and finishing with Southbound. A very good show and we managed to pickup some very nice cheap shirts after the show.Slideshow | |
