Long Day Of Travel Gets Us To Hawaii's Big Island - Part I

4/11/2014 - Waikola, Hawaii - The long journey back to our home away from home started today mid-morning in Rochester hopping in the car and driving to Buffalo International Airport. On the first leg in Buffalo we were stuck waiting over an hour and a half for the fog to clear to fly from Buffalo to Cleveland. The flight was late and we barely made the late Cleveland flight to Houston. In Houston they held the plane for us because we were late and Deb's fractured foot. The benefit of Deb's foot included jumping airport lines and getting driven thru the airport to connections which was great. We made the Houston flight connecting to LA, then from LA finally arriving at the Hilo Airport on the Big Island of Hawaii. We picked up our rental car and drove almost two hours to our final destination the hotel in Waikoloa the Waikoloa Beach Marriott Resort & Spa. The resort was nice had multiple pools including an infinity pool, multiple hot tubs and sits right on Anaehoomalu Bay. We had a room that was nice and had a great ocean and bay view. We started are first day driving to Kailua Kona for a great breakfast at The Big Island Grill and exploring Kailua Kona. We headed back to the resort for some chilling in the infinity pool and hot tubs. We explored the beach by our resort and encountered some sea turtles. We enjoyed a nice prime rib and crab leg dinner at the resorts restaurant and took in a nice sunset. The resort had a luau, the Sunset Luau, which we were able to watch the show for free. The show had good hula dancers and a excellent fire dancer. We did some late night shopping at the King Shops, browsing for some ukuleles and Rolexs. A nice start to our Big Island Hawaiian adventure. More to come. 2 3 4 5 6 7Slideshow
