Maui no ka oi - YES Maui is the Best - Part V

4/17/2014 - Maui, Hawaii - Our day today in Maui really epitomizes the Hawaiian saying 'Maui no ka oi', meaning Maui is the best. The day started early with the sunrise daily beach walk along Kaanapali beach. The walk included being greeted by a beautiful panoramic rainbow spanning Lanai and Molakai. After breakfast at our condo at Kaanapali Shores, we headed back to Lahaina for our second whale watch in as many days with the Pacific Whale Foundation. We again headed out on there boat Ocean Discovery for what was a superb whale watch. We left the Lahaina harbor and encountered several groups of whales and were entertained by tails, fins, and multiple breaches including a double breach, we even managed to get some decent shots. As we continued the watch, we were then entertained by a pod of spinner dolphins racing the boat and jumping all around. The dolphins followed for most of the watch and whales were all around and in between we were entertained by flying fish. This also included the beautiful panoramic views of the island of Maui, it really does not get any better than this! After the watch we headed back to Kaanapali Shores and chilled by the ocean front pool. We then hopped in the car and headed across the island to Wailea down to Makena Big Beach. The beach was excellent with golden sands, clear waters, and large waves to body surf in. We hung out here for a while and then journeyed to Little Beach. After the beach we stopped for a steak and lobster dinner at Outback Steakhouse. We headed back to the condo and viewed a nice sunset. A perfect Maui day, truly Maui no ka oi !!! 1 2 3 4 6 7Slideshow
