Rains Do Not Stop Gregg Allman's Jams At Artpark Show

8/12/2014 - Lewiston, New York - The Tuesday In The Park Concert Series at Artpark continued this week with the classic rock of Gregg Allman. The Tuesday Artpark shows have struggled for decent weather and this week was no exception as the show almost did not happen. We arrived at the usual time and found smaller crowds than normal, we entered the concert and soon after the thunder and lightning storms arrived. Artpark officials forced all concert goers back to their cars or take shelter in the Artpark mainstage theater until the storms passed. We were entertained by some Artpark employees boombox tunes in the mainstage theater. After a forty minute delay the storms passed and we headed back to our seats and the opening act the Little Mountain Band hit the stage on time at 6:30. They were just okay and played a decent set of southern type rock. Soon after Gregg Allman and his band hit the stage. He did a good set of Allman Brothers Band stuff, some solo stuff and some blues covers. He opened with a good jam on Statesboro Blues and played a some what light jazzy set with a his band that included a horn section. He played classics like Melissa, Midnight Rider and finished the set with a lighter version of Whipping Post. He came out for one encore of One Way Out. This was a good show and the rains held out for the entire show after the rain delay. We even managed a post concert stop at Pizza Oven for a late night snack. Only a couple shows left summer is sadly almost over.Slideshow
