Jeff Lynne's ELO At Radio City Music Hall Closes NYC Weekend

9/18/2016 - New York, New York - We hopped in the car and headed east to NYC to see one of our favorite performers Mr. Jeff Lynne and his ELO. We arrived in NYC mid afternoon and checked into our hotel the Fairfield Inn & Suites New York Midtown Manhattan on 33rd Street. We headed down to Times Square and had dinner at TGIFridays and did some shopping. We headed back to the hotel and went to the roof bar on the 30th floor for some nice views of Manhattan including One World Trade Center and Madison Square Garden which was literally right next door. We heard lots of sirens and found out after returning to the room that a bombing occurred only four blocks away. I went down and found hundreds of police and as I was taking pictures they were blocking off other streets after another bomb was found a few blocks away. The next day we continued with a nice breakfast at the hotel. We hit the subway and headed downtown to One World Trade Center. We got some nice close-up views of One World Trade Center Tower and the impressive new World Trade Center Path Station. We headed into World Trade Center Observatory heading to the 102nd floor observation deck which provided fantastic views of the Manhattan area for miles. We headed back on the subway back to 34th street to stop in at Sam Ash and play some nice acoustic and electric guitars. We then headed to Times Square and had a nice dinner at Ruby Tuesdays. After dinner, we walked down Avenue Of Americas to the sold out gorgeous venue Radio City Music Hall to see the incomparable Jeff Lynne's ELO. The show opened with a very good string quartet playing a few numbers. Lynne and company came out soon after and played a fantastic set of as many Electric Light Orchestra hits they could fit into the just under two hour set. We had great tickets center stage fourteen and ten rows back. The band played many hits including Evil Woman, Livin Thing, Can't Get It Out Of Head and closing the set with Mr. Blue Sky. The band was great with strings and backup singers and a light show that included laser lights and a circle display reminiscent of Pink Floyds that was excellent. Lynne came out for a single encore of Roll Over Beethoven. A great finish to a crazy weekend in New York City.Slideshow
