Jonny Lang Brings Blues To Annual Rochester Lilac Festival

5/18/2017 - Rochester, New York - In a last minute decision, I decided to leave work and head to Highland Park in downtown Rochester to catch some blues guitar from Quinn Sullivan and Jonny Lang at the 2017 Rochester Lilac Festival. It was threatening rain but turned out to be a perfect evening for an outdoor show. I got there a little late getting the last parking space before the lot was closed and then worked my way thru the crowd to a great spot second row center stage. I caught the final couple numbers from the young blues guitarist Quinn Sullivan. I had last seen him play with his mentor Buddy Guy a couple years ago at Artpark. He closed his set with a nice cover of Clapton's Let It Rain. He is evolving into a decent artist. Soon after Jonny Lang hit the stage and played a good set. He played an hour and half set of old and new tunes. He jammed on Don't Stop (For Anything) and did a nice cover of Stevie Wonder's Living For The City. He played the title song from his soon to be released album Signs with his typical intense jam on it. Again Jonny continues to play with great energy and put on a good show plus it was free, keep the good acts coming.Slideshow
