Marcus King Band Brings Their Jams To Town Ballroom

3/2/2022 - Buffalo, New York - Today, we headed West down NYS Route 90 to Route 33 into downtown Buffalo, New York to see the young guitar talents of Marcus King and his band perform at the Town Ballroom. We arrived early and had some drinks at TGIFridays prior to the show. We hit the streets to go to the show and a snow storm started and large lines had formed for the General Admission show. We made it into the nice venue that holds about 1200 and made are way to front row center without issue. The opening act was a young blues guitarist named Hannah Wicklund & The Steppin Stones. She came out promptly at 8pm and did an excellent half hour plus set of bluesy jams with her band. After a brief intermission and the removal of some obnoxious fans, Marcus King and his band hit the stage at nine and played a good two hour set. This was the second show at the Town Ballroom as he performed here the previous night to a soldout crowd. He opened with It's Too Late and jammed his way thru Hard Working Man. He played a nice cover of Danny O'Keefe's Good Time Charlie's Got The Blues. His band was pretty tight and included a small horn section, Hammond organ and some nice slide guitar work from Drew Smithers. They closed the set with The Well and came out for a two song encore. The first encore was Goodbye Carolina and then he was joined by Hannah Wicklund for a jam filled finale covering Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young's Ohio. A great show and a nice venue, being front row dead center did not hurt either.Slideshow
