Stones & AC/DC Headline Epic Sarstock Show At Downsview Park

7/30/2003 - Toronto, Canada - Today, my brothers Jack, Mike and I headed north of the border to attend an epic concert billed as Molson Canadian Rocks for Toronto (aka Sarstock) at Downsview Park in Toronto, Canada. We headed up early and picked up the TTC at Kipling to avoid the massive traffic due to the expected large crowd, a great move. The headliner was the Rolling Stones and it was the largest concert ever in Canadian history with the crowd estimated at over 480,000 people. The all day event was hosted by Dan Aykroyd and Jim Belushi and had an unparralled lineup that included the Rolling Stones, AC/DC, Rush, The Guess Who (with Burton Cummings and Randy Bachman), The Isley Brothers, Jeff Healy & Sass Jordan, The Flaming Lips, Tea Party, Blue Rodeo, Justin Timberlake and numerous others. We literally stood in the same spot for eleven hours never having to use the bathroom due to the extreme heat that had the crowd getting sprayed with hoses and throwing out thousands of free water bottles. This epic show had Justin Timberlake get booed off the stage twice having to dodge water bottles. He then joined the Stones, Mick Jaggar, for a number and got booed again angering Keith Richards to the point he had to simmer the crowd. Rush was an awesome last minute addition to the lineup and did a great set. The Guess Who with originals members Randy Bachman and Burton Cummings also doing a great set. AC/DC came out just prior to the Stones and I would say pretty much stole the show with their excellent set. The Stones closed the show with a ninety minute set that included being joined by members of AC/DC for a couple of awesome numbers. This was the largest concert event I have ever attended and the best twenty dollar ticket I have ever purchased !Slideshow
