Whales Abound Enjoying The Last Days On Maui - Part IV

4/4/2015 - Lahaina, Hawaii - The last days on this Maui trip included suns, moons, mountains and many whales. The day started very early with what were unbelievable moons. For the second year in a row we got to take in spectacular views of the full lunar eclipse or better known as the Blood Moon. The day started getting up early to see the sunrise from the beach and the moon set. We decided to take a trip east again this time we drove to the top of Mount Haleakala. At first the views at Leleiwi Overlook and the peak observation decks were obstructed by clouds but they moved out quickly and we took in the fantastic lunar like views of the crater. We headed back to the condo and watched another nice Maui sunset and went back to Lahaina and ate a nice dinner at Longhi's. The final full day we headed back to Lahaina and went on a whale watch with the Ultimate Whale Watch. This watch was pretty special as we followed a group of a dozen whales in competition. A lot of activity from tails to fins. On this watch we were whale mugged as the whales came right up to the raft and we got some great video above and below the water of the mom and baby literally within arms reach. This was a great whale watch and we will be back again with them next time. We headed back to Kapalua Bay for some final snorkeling and relaxing on the beach. We then headed back to the condo took in our final sunset and went back to Lahaina to do some shopping and cruising the art galleries. We stopped at Fleetwood's on Front Street, where the Pink Floyd cover band Echoes was playing the complete Dark Side Of The Moon album in honor of the full moon and Lunar Eclipse. A really nice last full day, sadly our time on Maui is almost over. 1 2 3 5Slideshow
