Awesome NYC Getaway Central Park, GMA & Joel At MSG |

 2/21/2018 - New York, New York - The New York City Getaway started a day earlier getting up very early to catch the Amtrak train from Rochester to Penn Station. We arrived on time and walked to our hotel a couple blocks away the Holiday Inn Express at Chelsea. We went to Times Square had dinner and grabbed some show tickets and attended the Broadway show A Bronx Tale. The show was excellent. The next morning, we were up early to attend the Good Morning America taping featuring Brooke Shields and then spent a fantastic warm February day walking the city stopping at Strawberry Fields in Central Park and Winterfest at Bryant Park. Next up, we were off to sold out Madison Square Garden to see Billy Joel. Joel and his band jammed for two plus hours filling as many classics as he could into the set. The set included such hits as Movin' Out, New York State of Mind and a comical cover of AC/DC's Highway To Hell featuring Joel's guitar roadie on vocals. The multi-song encore included Big Shot, Only The Good Die Young and You May Be Right. The next morning included the mandatory Sam Ash Music visit to play some nice acoustic lefty guitars. Finally we were back at Penn Station to head back to Rochester, a great NYC getaway. We will be back soon.Slideshow | |
