Rochester Music Hall Induction Has Surprise Guest Paul Simon

4/22/2018 - Rochester, New York - Today for the second year in a row we headed to downtown Rochester, New York to watch the 2018 Rochester Music Hall of Fame Induction ceremony at my favorite Rochester venue the beautiful Eastman Theatre. Deb won the tickets again this year to start off are free concert summer. The class of 2018 featured some of Rochester's best including percussionist John Beck, jingle man Ferdinand Jay Smith III, steel guitar masters the Campbell Brothers and the legendary drummer Steve Gadd and bass player Tony Levin. Steve Gadd is one of the most accomplished and skilled drummers of his generation, performing in studio and on tour with various artists, including Paul Simon, James Taylor, and Eric Clapton. Tony Levin an excellent bass player currently playing with Peter Gabriel who provided a video taped message honoring Tony's induction. Steve and Tony hit the stage together to perform some numbers and out walked special guest Paul Simon. Paul reminisced of how Steve provided the drums for 50 Ways To Leave Your Lover and they performed it, that was then followed by Tony Levin providing the awesome bass line for Late In The Evening which they performed, a fantastic reunion set. John Beck at 84 years old came out and played some awesome percussion and the Campbell Brother wailed on some steel guitar to close out the show. This was a great show and best of all it was free again. Slideshow
