Roadtrip To Dallas For Clapton's Crossroads Guitar Festival |

 9/20/2019 - Dallas, Texas - The day started very early heading to Greater Rochester International Airport to start our journey to see Eric Clapton's Crossroads Guitar Festival at American Airlines Center in the heart of downtown Dallas, Texas. We arrived at the airport early to catch a connecting flight to Detroit but Dom was flagged by TSA for a rigorous security check that almost made us miss our flight. We were the absolute last people to board and caught our connection to Dallas without further issue arriving on time mid morning. We met Mike at the car rental desk and the Discover card debacle held us up but we finally got our car and headed to our hotel the Lorenzo in downtown Dallas. The hotel was definitely different with it's artsy feel our room was great with a nice view of the city of Dallas. We decided to Uber to American Airlines Center and took in the preshow at the outside stage listening to a set by Marcus King and playing guitars from all the vendors with displays at the outdoor venue. We grabbed a quick dinner at an Italian place close to the Arena. We then headed in for night one of Crossroads 2019. The show opened promptly at 7 and lasted for five and half hours of jams. The emcee for the Festival was comedian Bill Murray who definitely added comic relief. Sonny Landreth opened with a great set. Eric Clapton followed shortly after with a nice acoustic set that included Lay Down Sally, Tears In Heaven and Nobody Know You When Your Down and Out. The night continued with sets by Bonnie Raitt, Albert Lee (That's All Right Mama), Sheryl Crow, Jimmie Vaughan who was joined by special guest Billie Gibbons for a nice jam on La Grange, and a fantastic set by Marcus King Band. The highlight of the evening was Peter Frampton's set being joined by Clapton to jam on While My Guitar Gently Weeps. The night closed with the legendary Jeff Beck jamming with Johnny Depp and closing night one with a nice jam on Little Wing.
