Stadium Tour Brings Def Leppard & Motley Crue To Highmark

8/10/2022 - Orchard Park, New York - In a last minute decision, I headed West down the NYS Thruway to Orchard Park, New York to see The Stadium Tour at Highmark Stadium featuring Def Leppard and Motley Crue. I picked up a decent priced ticket on the evil Ticketmaster site and headed to the show. I arrived right on time getting to my seat twenty rows up on about the fifty yard line on this perfect day weatherwise. The music started at 4Pm with a band from LA called Classless Act that did their best to get the crowd going. The crowd filled in quickly and although not a sellout a very large crowd of about 40,000 plus came out. After the opener. Joan Jett and the Blackhearts hit the stage doing a good set that included her classics like I Love Rock 'n' Roll, a nice cover of Sly and the Family Stone's Everyday People and closing the condensed set with Bad Reputation. After a short setup break, Poison hit the stage and also did a good set. Bret Micheals on vocals accompanied by CC Deville on lead guitar tore through their set playing classics like Talk Dirty To Me, Every Rose Has Its Thorn and closing thier condensed set with Nothin' But A Good Time. The next band was Motley Crue who played a 90 minute set and today opened for Def Leppard who alternate the headliner as the Crue closed the last show so Def Leppard would close tonight. In the smoke filled stadium, Motley Crue played classics like Home Sweet Home, Same Ol' Situation, Looks That Kill and Girls, Girls, Girls. Although the mix for the set was off they were still entertaining and well received. Tommy Lee came out from behind the drum kit and got a few woman to flash there titties, Vince Neil did well on vocals and Mick Mars jammed most of the lead guitar. They closed with Kick Start My Heart and again played an entertaining set that would have been even better had the mix been right. The final act for this evening was Def Leppard. Although they showed their age a bit, they also played a good 90 minute set that sounded great. They packed in as many hits as possible including classics like Foolin', Bringin' On The Heartbreak and Rock Of Ages to name a few. Joe Elliot was good on vocals, Rick Allen continues to be the best one armed drummer on Earth and Phil Collen played most of the blazing lead guitar. They closed the show with firework filled Photograph. A great and tiring day of 80's rock ! Slideshow
