Hanging In Vegas & Night Two Of Dead & Company At The Sphere

5/31/2024 - Las Vegas, Nevada - After a stellar first day of Las Vegas and the Sphere, we were going back at it again today hanging in Vegas and doing show number two at the Sphere with Dead & Company. We were up at a decent hour and had a Denny's breakfast on the Las Vegas Strip. We decided to hit a few of our favorite touristy spots that included a visit to The Forum Shops at Caesars Palace. This included a stop at Dom's favorite artist's gallery, the Kush Fine Art Gallery, home of the works of Vladimir Kush. We viewed his work and talked with the gallery staff of the tragic loss of all his works and gallery at the Lahaina, Maui gallery. Fortunately, only art and no people were lost that worked at the gallery. Kush had a painting of Lahaina harbor on display in the Vegas gallery. We stopped by Bellagio for some shade and watched the fountains on this again 100+ degree day. We decided to take some time and get some gaming action in and then afterwards we hit the pool at the Flamingo for a little cool off period. We grabbed something quick to eat and headed back to the Sphere for night number two of Dead & Company. We arrived right in time and entered quickly and went right to our seats in the 300's section, which were again in the same section and row as the previous night, but about 10 seats closer to center stage. The show opened a few minutes past 7:30 same as the prior night and Dead & Company came out and did another stellar set. They opened with Shakedown Street and then went into Jack Straw to start the Sphere journey into space and beyond, starting from the Grateful Deads starting point in San Francisco. We knew what to expect for some of the show was the same and some of it was new from the night prior. The music set was completely different but the sound and visuals were still jaw dropping and sometimes mesmerizing. They closed set one with Don't Ease Me In and that was followed by a half hour intermission. The second set opened with the Sphere coloring book landscape to the sounds of Uncle John's Band. Then the band went into a history of venues played with a nice jam on I Know You Rider. We went on a nice animated ride in the Sphere for Hell In A Bucket. They closed the set with one of Dom's favorites Black Muddy River and came out for a single encore of Casey Jones. They honored Bill Walton at the end of the show showing his tall arm raised silhouette in the crowd. Again, fantastic audio quality and amazingly insane video and animated scenes in the Sphere's 16K panels. I still don't think they have scratched the surface of where this technology can go and do but this appears to be a good start. It was a little better than the night prior shockingly and guess what, tomorrow we get to do it all over again just one more time!Slideshow
