Next Stop On 2026 Slowhand Road Trip Is Downtown Cincinnati

9/8/2026 - Cincinnati, Ohio - We left Comerica Park in Detroit a little early the day prior and headed south down Route 75 to downtown Cincinnati for show two of Eric Clapton performing at the Heritage Bank Center. On the road down, we stopped for a quick bite to eat and some gas at the little Ohio town of Wapakoneta, which happens to be the birth place of Neil Armstrong and his museum, the Armstrong Air & Space Museum. We arrived late to the heart of downtown Cincinnati to our hotel the Hampton Inn & Suites Cincinnati-Downtown. We had a good sleep and a decent breakfast at the hotel. We made a stop at the Ascend Cannabis Dispensary and then headed to the Hard Rock Casino Cincinnati. I picked up the mandatory pin, won some cash playing video poker and we had a good early steak dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe also taking in a decent set of rock memoribilia. We then headed to Heritage Bank Center for the second Clapton show in the past three days. We explored the area preshow hitting the Great American Ball Park and Paycor Stadium. It was a hot day and we entered the venue shortly after it opened. Today we had tickets down low about center ice on the left side of the stage, again good seats. Jimmie Vaughan started on time and played another good forty minute set. He played his usual Just A Little Bit, D/FW and Texas Flood. Clapton and his band hit the stage after the brief intermission and played another great set on this night. He opened electric set one with Badge, then Key To The Highway,I'm Your Hoochie Coochie Man and a crowd pleasing version of Pretending to end the first electric set. He opened the acoustic set with Kind Hearted Woman Blues and played Give Me Strength and Nobody Knows You When You're Down And Out. His band was the same as the night in Detroit, Nathan East on bass, Sonny Emory on drums, Doyle Bramhall II on guitar, Chris Stainton and Tim Carmon on keys and Katie Kissoon and Sharon White on backing vocals. The jam filled second electric set included Old Love, Little Queen of Spades and show closing Cocaine. The band came out for a single encore of Before You Accuse Me. Another solid show from Eric and band and they seemed a little better on this night I thought. This was another successful Clapton road trip in the books with part three happening at the end of the month in Austin, Texas for Crossroads 2026.Slideshow
