Obituary: Josephine A. Corser (72)

10/27/1996 - Lady Lake, Florida - Josephine A. (Andrello) DeFilippo Corser, 72, a former Lockport resident and first woman supervisor at Harrison Radiator Division, died suddenly, Sunday October 27, 1996, at home.

Born July 30, 1924, in Utica, she was the daughter of John and Maude Church Andrello.

Moving to Lockport with her husband Dominick A. DeFilippo, she started working in 1949 at Harrison Radiator Division as a line worker. In 1972 she became a line supervisor and in 1975 she was promoted as the first woman general supervisor at the plant.

She was a member of the local 686 Federal Credit Union Board and belonged to several clubs and organizations in Lockport.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by five children, Dominick A. Jr. (Terry) DeFilippo of Pompano Beach, Florida, Ronald A. (Elizabeth Valery) DeFilippo of Gainesville, Florida, JoAnne Sheehan of Arlington, Texas, Jeffrey (Valery) DeFilippo of Bowling Green, Kentucky, and Betty (Azam) DeFilippo Qadri, DDS of Hudson, Ohio; a sister, Philemona DeFilippo of Lockport; nine grandchildren and many friends.

A solemnity service will be announced at a later date. Entombment will be in Glenwood Mausoleum.
