John Mayer Electrifies Crowd At Darien Lake PAC Concert

8/13/2013 - Corfu, New York - In a last minute decision I decided to join my daughter and go see John Mayer perform at the Darien Lake Performing Arts Center in Corfu, New York on his Born and Raised Tour. We started out with a nice dinner at Outback Steakhouse. When we arrived at Darien Lake it was very cool August evening but clear with no chance of rain. The opening act Phillip Phillips came on promptly at 7:30 and did a decent set. He and his band did a nice cover of Phil Collin's In The Air Tonight. After a short intermission John Mayer hit the stage and put on a very good show. He opened his set with Wildfire and played many of his hits including Slow Dancing In A Burning Room, Stop This Train with a little Simon and Garfunkel's Homeward Bound thrown in. He played several good covers including Tom Petty's Free Fallin, Henry Whittier's Going Down The Road Feelin' Bad and also a pretty good jam of Blind Faith's Can't Find My Way Home. He finished the set with his hit Gravity. The band was tight and the sound pretty good. The crowd was definitely into it and sang along and cheered throughout the show. He came out and played two final encores I Don't Trust Myself (Loving You) and finally A Face To Call Home. This was really a good show Mayer showed he has some skill as a guitarist and vocalist. This show was enjoyed by all that attended. Slideshow
