Piano Man Billy Joel Plays To Sellout Carrier Dome Crowd |

 3/20/2015 - Syracuse, New York - We were back on the road again today heading east to the Carrier Dome in Syracuse, New York to see the Piano Man Billy Joel perform. We left early and had a nice steak and lobster dinner at Ruby Tuesdays in East Syracuse. This was fortunate for us as after dinner we headed to the show and parked in the remote lot taking the shuttle to the show which allowed us to just bypass a massive traffic jam that left many fans unable to even make it to the show. We got to our seats which were pretty good, just to the left of the stage and actually the same exact section we sat in when we saw him there twenty-two years ago. The opening act, Gavin DeGraw came out promptly at 8PM and played a short half hour set. The acoustics and the mix were not that good and that made for not a very good performance. After a half hour break Billy Joel hit the stage at 9PM and played very good set opening with a Matter of Trust. He packed in as many hits as he could into the two plus hour performance. He played such hits like New York State of Mind, Movin' Out, and Scenes From and Italian Restaurant to name a few. He was honored during the show with a banner in the Dome for setting the record for seven sold-out shows. The mix was much better for his set but he did joke about the echo saying you could come back tomorrow and hear the show. During the set he was joined by his guitar roadie, Chainsaw, to do a fun cover of AC/DC's Highway To Hell that got the crowd pumped up. He finished his set with Piano Man. He came and did a four song encore that included classics It's Still Rock and Roll To Me, Big Shot, You May Be Right, and finishing with Only The Good Die Young. The sellout crowd thoroughly enjoyed this show. The show was good but the venue is not really built for music and for traffic as getting to our car was an adventure, but fortunately we found the shuttle and got out quick beating any potential traffic jams.
