Orlando Weekend Includes Music, Beaches and Fun - Part II |

 4/25/2015 - Orlando, Florida - The Orlando getaway continued today as we headed to the Atlantic Dance Hall on the Boardwalk to watch Dom and Hilton High Jazz Ensemble perform as part of the Festival Disney music competition. They played three numbers that included a sick Dom playing tenor sax solos on two of them Horns Alone and Sonny's Place. The third number was Hay Burner. A very good performance by all. We then caught the band's bus and headed to Disney Hollywood Studios where the Hilton High Wind Ensemble then performed in the competition. The Wind Ensemble played three numbers including The Boys Of The Old Brigade, O Magnum Mysterium, and Abram's Pursuit. Again another great performance by the Wind Ensemble. Both Wind and Jazz took first place honors in their respective divisions in the competition. After the performances we headed to the Boardwalk Villas and enjoyed the awesome pool and water slide. We then took a walk to the Yacht Club and rented a mini motorboat and cruised around the Disney property. We had a very nice dinner on the Boardwalk at the Big River Grille and Brewing House. The next day we hopped in the Camaro and rocketed to Tampa and the Gulf Coast for some beach hopping. We hit several beaches with the first stop being Clearwater Beach. After checking out the beach we stopped at Crabby Bills on the beach for an excellent surf and turf early dinner. We then headed south hitting several beaches all the way to St Petes beach. We finally headed back to the Boardwalk Villas and had a snack at the ESPN Bar and a late night dessert at Beaches And Cream. Our long weekend is coming to an end. It was great to watch the bands perform and relax in the warm Florida sun. Next day back at Orlando Airport with Jet Blue flight from Orlando to JFK to Rochester, long weekend mission completed.Slideshow | |
