 10/11/2019 - Ithaca, New York - Today we headed to the State Theatre of Ithaca in Ithaca, New York to see one of our favorite blues acts the Robert Cray Band. This would be the fourth time to see him this year and the second time in last two weeks. We had excellent seats second row dead center, returning to the scene of the crime where we saw him just over four years ago. We left early stopping at Outback for a nice steak and lobster dinner prior to the show. We arrived on time and caught the opening act from Texas, Bonnie Bishop. They did a short set that was okay. Robert Cray came out soon after and played a great set, very similar to the show in Buffalo a week ago. He opened with Phone Booth and played plenty of great jams on tunes like Two Steps From The End, Chicken In The Kitchen and You Had My Heart. The band was very tight as usual and Robert's tone was excellent. He played a nice jam on Right Next Door (Because of Me) with Richard Cousins doing a nice solo. He closed out the set with Just How Low. He came out for a two song encore that included You Must Believe In Yourself and the finale of Time Makes Two. We managed to get a couple picks courtesy of drummer Terence F Clark again like last show. A great show can't wait until the next one!Slideshow | |
