Slowhand Brings His Jams To Tampa's Sold Out Amalie Arena |

 9/25/2021 - Tampa, Florida - Today, we were in lovely downtown Tampa, Florida to watch one of my favorite guitarists of all time, Mr. Slowhand himself Eric Clapton perform at Amalie Arena. We headed down early and got a parking spot right in front of the arena. We stopped at the very busy Hattricks for a quick dinner before the show. After, we headed to the arena and made it to our excellent seats left of the stage. The show started promptly at 8 PM with Jimmie Vaughan and his band doing good set. He opened with D/FW and played a nice cover of Texas Flood. He finished the set with Boom-Bapa-Boom. After a short intermission Clapton and his awesome band hit the stage to play a just over 90 minute set. He opened with Pretending with a nice solo and played classics like a drum filled Got To Get Better In A Little While with Steve Gadd and Sonny Emory providing the drums. His band was pretty tight as usual with Doyle Bramhall II playing some tasty lead and rhythm. He played a nice acoustic set in between the two electric sets that included standards like Layla and Tears In Heaven. He played a nice version of Wonderful Tonight and closed the set with guitar and organ filled version of Cocaine with Chris Stanton and Paul Carrack providing the keyboards and Clapton and Bramhall on the guitars. They finished with Jimmie Vaugham joining Eric for the single encore cover of Joe Cocker's High Time We Went. A good show that was definitely enjoyed by the sellout Amalie Arena crowd ! Slideshow | |
