Buddy Guy Brings The Damn Right Farewell Tour To Artpark |

 6/10/2023 - Lewiston, New York - In another last minute decision, I decided to take a drive West down Route 104 and head to lovely Lewiston New York, to see the legendary blues man, Buddy Guy, perform at Artpark's Mainstage Theater during his Damn Right Farewell Tour. I picked up a ticket a few hours before the show on Ticketmaster in the second tier and headed out. I stopped in Lockport and grabbed some Pizza Oven slices for dinner and stopped at the Smokin Joe's Reservation for some cheap gas and a Green Dino fix. This will probably be my only show at Artpark this season as the selection of artists this year was surprisingly weak. The show was a sellout and my ticket was decent in the second tier last row left stage. The Mainstage Theater is a nice venue with really not a bad seat in the house. The show started promptly at 7:30PM with Robert Randolph and his band performing a good set. They were joined by former London Souls lead man, Tash Neal on guitar. Tash and Robert did nice covers of Cream's I'm So Glad and an excellent jam filled cover of Blind Faith's Can't Find My Way Home. Again a good set and pleasant surprise to see Tash Neal joining the band. Soon after the eighty-six year old blues legend, Buddy Guy, hit the stage and did his typical ninety minute entertaining set. He opened with Damn Right I've Got the Blues. He played a nice jam on I'm Your Hoochie Coochie Man accompanied by a nice guitar solo by Ric Hall. He also did an excellent take on How Blue Can You Get? Buddy continues to be the ultimate showman even at eighty-six and the sellout crowd thoroughly enjoyed this show. He was joined by Robert Randolph for the final number for an unrehearsed final jam of the night on Little By Little. This was an entertaining show as always and since it's dubbed his Damn Right Farewell Tour, this would be the last time to see him perform solo. We will see him again in September at the Crossroads Guitar Festival in LA. A good show that was again worth the trip to see the living legend one last time, thanks Buddy. Slideshow | |
