3/26/2006 - Gainesville, Florida - Dominick Anthony DeFilippo of Lady Lake, FL died Sunday March 26, 2006 in Gainesville's Woodlands Care Center. He was 87. Dominick was born on Thursday May 2, 1918 in Emporium, PA the first child of nine for Nicolo and Lena (Ruberto) DeFilippo. Dominick grew up in Lockport, NY. He moved to the Villages of Lady Lake 15 years ago. He was retired from the steel industry, in which he worked as a machinist for 37 years. He was also a skilled wallpaper hanger who papered the walls of many homes, including several in Gainesville, FL. He was a Catholic and a U.S. Army veteran who served in Italy during WWII, earning two bronze stars for bravery. He enjoyed golf and dancing. Survivors include his sons: Dick DeFilippo of Pompano Beach, FL, Ronald DeFilippo of Gainesville, FL and Jeffrey DeFilippo of St. Charles, MO; daughters JoAnne Meade of Irving, TX and Betty Qadri of Hudson, OH; his companion Jane Harnois of Lady Lake; brothers: Nicholas DeFilippo, John DeFilippo and Loren DeFilippo; sisters: Mary DeFilippo, Frances Florio and Ellen Anterline; eleven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
