9/16/2000 - Buffalo, New York - Jack Joseph Florio Sr., 60 a former Lockport resident, died Saturday, September 16, 2000, at Buffalo General Hospital after a lengthy illness. Born Friday July 26, 1940, in Brooklyn, New York, he was the first child of Donato and Carmela (DeFranco) Florio. An Army veteran, he served from 1958 to 1961. Married Frances DeFilippo in July 18th, 1959 and had three sons Jack, Michael and Daniel. After his military service, Mr. Florio was employed at Simonds Saw and Steel for 20 years, and held the office of president of the local union. After that , he was employed by Niagara County. Mr. Florio is survived by his fiance, Mary Anne DiFranco of Niagara Falls; his former wife, Frances, of Lockport; three sons, Jack (Rebecca) Florio Jr. and Michael (Denise) Florio, both of Lockport, and Daniel (Deborah) Florio of Hilton, NY; four grandsons, Michael, Christopher, Kevin and Dominic; two granddaughters, Amy and Nicole; a sister Theresa, of Brooklyn; and a brother Rocco, of Babylon, NY. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at MJ Colucci & Son Funeral Chapel, 468 19th Street, Niagara Falls. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Cemetery, Pine Avenue, Niagara Falls. Memorials to the American Diabetes Association would be appreciated by the family. Slideshow [] |
